a vintage classic in truly excellent condition!
I bought this Adamas II, brand-new, in 1984 - during the pinnacle of Ovation's manufacturing quality. The guitar has been very well-taken-care-of and seen limited use at home and in the studio. It has not been gigged nor taken on the road. It has been well-maintained and kept in its original factory hardshell case, in a smoke-free guitar room.
And, yes, it really is in excellent condition!!!

A couple years after I purchased the guitar, Ovation upgraded the Adamas line to the Optima Acoustic/Electric Preamp. So, I shipped the guitar to Ovation and had them upgrade it to the Optima. And, absolutely, the Optima is a huge upgrade over the original electronics!
The Ovation Optima Acoustic/Electric Preamp Features:
- Standard 1/4", Unbalanced, Hi-Z Output
- Balanced XLR, Lo-Z Output
- Can be powered with 48V Phantom, via the XLR, or the on-board 9 Volt battery
- Easy Access 9 Volt Battery Compartment
- On-board Tuner

- Retractable Gain Knob
- Retractable Notch Filter Knob with Separate In/Out Switch

I just installed a fresh set of Elixer Nanoweb Light Gauge Acoustic Guitar strings, so, it’s ready to sing, right out of the case. And, for sure, this guitar really sings!
This Adamas II is in excellent condition, with surprisingly minor signs of use. There are slight marks on the guitar and very minor fret wear on the first three frets. As can be seen from the photos, the fret wear is truly minor.
It’s hard to believe I have owned this guitar, since new, for nearly 34 years! During that whole time, however, I’ve played primarily electric guitar. Consequently - and as the photos show - this guitar hasn’t seen much play time. I wouldn’t consider selling it, but we’re raising funds for a big project.
The Adamas II includes the Optima Owner's Manual and keys for the hardshell case.
The Adamas II comes with the original, factory hardshell case. The only signs of use are various scuff marks on the exterior. Overall, it’s in remarkably great shape, considering it has been protecting the guitar for 34 years.
This Adamas II is a true classic - made during the pinnacle of Ovation's manufacturing quality. It's in excellent shape and will be a unique and fine addition to even the most extensive guitar collection!
