The Swamp Ash Special is a real standout among Paul Reed Smith guitars. It is uniquely equipped with a swamp ash body; bolt-on, hard rock maple neck; maple fretboard; Swamp Ash Special humbucking bridge & neck pickups; center-position Vintage Rails humbucking pickup; 5-position pickup selector switch; and coil tap. The Swamp Ash Special is well-known as the Strat-killer in the PRS lineup, yet achieves its "quacky", single-coil tone without the traditional hum. The hallmark of the Swamp Ash Special, however, is versatility. When paired with the appropriate amp, the Swamp Ash Special bridge and neck pickups are capable of tones ranging from mellow jazz tones right up to in-your-face, hard-rock distortion. This Swamp Ash Special was made in 2008* and features a very nicely grained, one-piece, solid swamp ash body; the highly-desirable, solid Abalone bird inlays; Vintage Cherry finish; and the 5-position pickup selector switch which was not provided on earlier models. The guitar and its factory case are both in excellent, almost like-new condition. The guitar comes complete with hang tag, warranty card, instructions, truss rod and saddle wrenches, two extra locking tuner screws, and PRS sticker. (* It should be noted that both the hang tag and the serial number confirm that the guitar was made in early 2008; however, the neck plate has a number "7" stamped before the serial number.)
